Founding Team
djinni.ai is developed by four friends that share a long professional history across multiple ventures. Some of us have already developed successful software companies. We're excited to bring our expertise to djinni.ai and help others with building their software businesses.
Founders
djinni.ai was founded by Maciej Chałapuk and Ben Peters—two seasoned software engineers with a collective 45 years of experience, including 32 years in VP and C-level roles. Maciej and Ben became close friends when working together at Bitso—the largest crypto exchange in Latin America. Sharing a deep passion for artificial intelligence, they decided to join forces to build the most user-friendly automated software creation platform.
What is Maciej's background?
Maciej is a self-taught programming polyglot with a dynamic career spanning various technical and managerial roles. Most notably, Maciej served as CTO at Quedex when it became the worlds first regulated crypto-centric futures and options exchange in 2019 [globenewswire.com], and in 2021 when it was acquired by Bitso—the largest crypto exchange in Latin America [coindesk.com].
At Bitso, Maciej took the role of VP of Architecture where he hired and led a team of 25 engineers, deemed the best in the company. While he was always strongly interested in software architecture, it was the role at Bitso which allowed Maciej to explore various software development methodologies, ultimately leading to creation of custom software development automation used at djinni.ai.
What is his role at djinni.ai?
Maciej serves as the CEO at djinni.ai. Since its inception, he has been responsible for all development and fundraising efforts of the company. To that end, over the first year of operation, Maciej raised substrantial capital investment from various business angels, developed a proprietary multi-agent framework used at djinni.ai, and solely authored djinni.ai's proof of concept.
After the PoC was completed, Maciej brought on board an exceptional Founding Engineer and a talented Design Lead to turn djinni.ai's unique technology into a product. With a growing core team, he now divides his time between product development, marketing initiatives, investor relations, and team onboarding. Maciej's current focus is the upcoming launch of djinni.ai.
How to pronounce "Maciej"?
Maciej is a common first name in Poland. It is pronounced as "MAH‑chey". His last name is pronounced as "How‑AH‑pook".
What is Ben's background?
Ben is a talented software engineer and veteran founder with deep interest in AI and an impressive track record of creating successful companies. Petromedia Limited—his first venture—was founded in 2001 and acquired by Platts in 2015 [spglobal.com]. The second company founded by Ben—Bitso—became the largest crypto exchange in Latin America, reaching a staggering valuation of $2.2 billion in 2021 [forbes.com].
His entrepreneurial experience and passion for technology uniquely position Ben to advise on the long-term strategy of djinni.ai.
How did Ben become a Co‑Founder of djinni.ai?
Ben and Maciej (CEO) met in 2020 during the acquisition of Quedex by Bitso, where Ben served as CTO at the time. The two worked very closely for nearly two years and kept in regular contact after Maciej left Bitso, which eventually led to the idea of djinni. In early June, 2023, Ben convinced Maciej to start a venture in the space AI.
The guiding principle for choosing the challenge proposed by Ben was to avoid the obvious, next-step use cases for AI technology. Instead, he aimed to push for an innovation that was three steps ahead—one unlikely to be achievable with the large language models available at the time. Using this principle, Maciej and Ben have analyzed numerous startup ideas and decided to tackle automated software creation for non-technical users.
Commited to the endeavor and with a strong belief in Maciej's ability to execute, Ben provided initial funding that enabled the development of djinni.ai's proof of concept. It was also Ben who coined the name "djinni.ai", securing the domain name long before the company was formalized. Without Ben, there would be no djinni.ai.
What is Ben's role at djinni.ai?
Ben serves as the Key Advisor at djinni.ai. He is responsible for providing critical insights on strategy, and consulting on technical challenges of AI. Ben's guidance has influenced the vision of the product, fundraising efforts, and several parts of the company's roadmap. Above all, Ben is always the best person to talk to when going gets tough.
Core Team
The team behind djinni.ai brings together world-class talent in design and engineering. It includes Marcin Michalski—our design lead, and Hubert Łyczek—our founding engineer. Together, they're building a platform that makes software creation intuitive, accessible, and beautifully simple.
What is Marcin's background?
Marcin is a versatile design expert with over 15 years of experience spanning product design, user experience, advertising, interaction design, video editing, and animation. Throughout his career, he has worked across multiple industries, contributing to dozens of software projects and refining his expertise in crafting intuitive, visually compelling experiences. His diverse background, coupled with a passion for continuous learning, makes him uniquely positioned to drive innovation at djinni.ai.
How did Marcin become involved with djinni.ai?
Marcin and Maciej became friends in high school in 1999 and worked at their first job together in 2007. They have kept a close relationship, having countless passionate conversations about making a business together. Now, with djinni.ai, they're finally turning that great dream into reality.
What is his role at djinni.ai?
Marcin joined djinni.ai as a design lead on August 29, 2024—just after Maciej developed the proof of concept (PoC). From day one, he focused on shaping djinni.ai's visual identity, developing a logo, and designing a sleek, modern landing page to showcase our business. In addition to crafting graphics for djinni.ai's social media channels, he also took on video editing for our fundraising materials, ensuring a polished and professional presentation.
What is Hubert's background?
Hubert is a full-stack software developer, experienced dev-ops engineer, and programming polyglot. Deep expertise in modern database systems, a track-record of using advanced software architectural processes, and successful applications of domain-driven design (DDD) in various programming languages are but a few of Hubert’s competences.
His vast software engineering experience enables Hubert to translate large parts of his knowledge into AI automation of djinni.ai.
How did Hubert become involved?
Hubert's and Maciej's connection began in 2013 while working on the pl.ID system at COI [obywatel.gov.pl]. Despite a few breaks in their professional collaboration, they ultimately followed the same path, working together at Quedex [globenewswire.com], Bitso [coindesk.com], and now djinni.ai.
Over the 7 years of close collaboration, Hubert and Maciej have developed common ways of working, including software craftsmanship practices and principles to guide software creation. Most of these practices are applied in the development of djinni.ai, increasing our operational efficiency and shortening the time to market of our platform.
What is Hubert's role at djinni.ai?
Hubert joined djinni.ai as a founding engineer on August 19, 2024. His deep knowledge of djinni.ai's technology stack and his fast learning ability allowed him to contribute to the project from day one. Hubert is responsible for adding capabilities to the platform's AI mechanisms, improving their internal quality, and developing custom tools for internal use.
